PHARMACEUTICAL
X-ray Mineral Services has been involved in a series of studies using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analytical methods in pharmaceutical applications. Studies include:
1) the assessment of impurities in bio-glass for dental implants;
2) quality control of synthetic osteogenic composites for orthopaedics and
3) the identification of metal fragments contaminating milled feedstock for a herbal tablet manufacturer.
Other techniques such as IR and Raman spectroscopy are also available for deployment on pharmaceutical projects.

CERAMICS & REFRACTORIES
X-ray diffraction (XRD) and x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analytical methods are routinely used to characterise the raw materials used in the manufacture of ceramics and the quality of finished products. These technologies are also deployed for the characterisation and quality control of heat resistant formulations and cements for furnace linings.

ARCHITECTURE
X-ray diffraction (XRD) and x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analytical methods are used to characterise building materials to ensure the correct sourcing of materials for buildings under renovation. X-ray Mineral Services has worked on case studies involving the identification of calc-silicate bricks and the characterisation of weathering products of pyritic building materials.
