On behalf of Hafren Scientific, X-ray Mineral Services Finland (XMS Finland) is pleased to announce we have been selected by The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) to deliver a tender entitled ‘BESPOKE GEOANALYTICAL SERVICES ON SELECTED BATTERY MINERAL-CONTAINING ORES, CONCENTRATES, AND MATERIALS’, which forms part of the ongoing BATCircle 2.0 research programme (https://batcircle.aalto.fi/en) funded by Business Finland.

“Following on from extensive research undertaken during the COVID crisis lockdown by XMS Finland and its sister group companies, we now have a robust workflow for the comprehensive characterisation of battery mineral ores, concentrates and materials’ says Dr Tim Pearce CEO of XMS Finland. ‘We also look forward to discussions over the next 18 months with the project leads at GTK in this innovative sector of battery mineral science”.

Assoc. Prof Simon Michaux GTK (Work Package Leader) highlighted the challenges of this study by saying ‘’it is important for us that we have access to a service provider that understands research and can deliver quality, timely and cost effective results’’.

Prof. Alan R Butcher, who is responsible for creating a set of new Battery Mineral Reference Materials at GTK as part of the BATCircle Project, also commented that “XMS Finland’s experience in the comprehensive characterisation of battery minerals will be invaluable to our Project as these are unusual and challenging materials which require careful and considered analysis techniques, that need to be cross-validated and calibrated. This is XMS’s strength as a leading bespoke geoanalytical service provider”.
