Exploration and Mining
X-ray Mineral Services has considerable experience in the characterisation of raw materials from exploration and mining. This traditionally involves the analysis of drill cores, rocks and concentrates from various sources for elemental concentrations and bulk mineralogy using XRF, XRD and ICP as part of our META1 characterisation tool.
- Innovative use of XRD & XRF in battery mineral exploration and production
- META 1 lab based workflow
- META 2 field based workflow
The workflow can be supplemented with our expertise in textural and context data from Automated Mineralogy (SEM-EDX)® or Raman spectroscopy. X-ray Mineral Services is equipped with a comprehensive suite of portable analysers for mineralogy (FTIR) and for elemental data (XRF and LIBS) which extends our analytical capability out of the laboratory and into the field.
The META2 capability has been deployed to characterise borehole cuttings and cores in real time to optimise quarry extension work and minimise environmental impact, whilst reducing costs by limiting the need to drill additional boreholes.
