X-ray Mineral Services has extensive  experience in geo- and other materials analysis across a broad range of industrial sectors. We can deploy a suite of technologies to provide clients with a targeted analytical solution or a multi-disciplinary elemental, mineralogical and textural workflow for a comprehensive and forensic characterisation.

We provide our analytical services for companies in exploration, mining, mineral processing, critical raw materials, battery value chain, construction, and other sectors in the circular economy.

  • Extensive experience in geo-materials analysis
  • Comprehensive characterisation of critical raw materials and battery materials
  • Characterisation of secondary materials, including waste products from extractive industries, recycled batteries and the construction industry

The X-ray Mineral Services capability is in high demand for the comprehensive characterisation of Critical Raw Materials and the battery mineral extractive industry. Our cross validated multi-disciplinary META1 (Minerals, Elements, Texture and Analysis) workflow provides a high resolution toolbox for CRM and battery mineral characterisation. Our META workflow includes QXRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy and Automated Mineralogy (SEM-EDX)® for mineral analysis, ICP, XRF, LIBS, Automated Mineralogy (SEM-EDX)® for elemental analysis, and Raman spectroscopy, digital petrography, Automated Mineralogy (SEM-EDX)® and laser particle size analysis for textural characterisation).

Our META1 characterisation capability can be deployed across the full value chain, from the assessment of ores and polymetallic resources, optimisation of mineral processing and mineral refinement, to battery manufacture and the recycling of battery and e-wastes. Our CRM and battery mineral capability is focused via our experienced Finnish team who are working in one of the most progressive energy transition sectors in the world.

We have developed a META2 workflow based on the utilisation of portable instrumentation suitable for deployment in the field, at wellsite, during mine processing, and the refinement and recycling of black waste. This involves technology such as pXRF, FTIR, LIBS and magnetic susceptibility (META2).
